You wouldn’t expect to pay for toilet paper at work.
So why do we still expect millions of people to pay for essential sanitary supplies?
At Cleancorp, we believe dignity at work should never come at a cost. That’s why we’ve partnered with Femme Organic and the Pachamama Project to make sustainable sanitary products more accessible in workplaces, while also tackling period poverty around the world.

Why Cleancorp Is Getting Involved
At Cleancorp, we clean people’s bathrooms every day. We see firsthand the basics that every workplace provides (soap, toilet paper, paper towels) but period care is often missing from the list. And yet, it’s just as essential. You wouldn’t expect to bring your own toilet paper to work. So why should anyone have to bring their own sanitary supplies?
As a women-led business, Cleancorp has always believed in building workplaces that are fair, inclusive, and supportive. We don’t see period care as “optional”, we see it as essential.
That’s why we’re not making a profit from this partnership. Instead:
-
Our clients receive 10% off their first Femme Organic order.
-
Any profit that could have been made goes directly to The Pachamama Project, a global charity fighting period poverty.
For us, this is about values. It’s about making sure workplaces we clean and care for also reflect fairness, dignity, and equality.
Why This Matters
The numbers speak for themselves:
-
10% of women admit to showing up late or leaving work early to hide that they’re on their period.
-
56% of people admit to hiding their period at home, work, or school.
-
And an overwhelming 97% agree that women’s health and wellbeing would be positively impacted if period care was free and accessible in every workplace
Periods shouldn’t be a barrier to showing up fully at work. They shouldn’t be something people feel they have to hide. And they certainly shouldn’t come with the stress of affordability.

Who Is The Pachamama Project?
The Pachamama Project is a UK-registered charity on a mission to eradicate global period poverty, especially among refugees and vulnerable communities. They’ve built a global, zero-barriers network of volunteers who sew reusable sanitary pads (called Pacha Pads) to provide sustainable, dignified menstrual products to those who need them most.
Here’s how real the impact is:
-
Over 2,500 volunteers have joined from around the world.
-
They've created more than 160,000 reusable pads, delivering them to 20,000+ people across 11 countries.
-
These pads aren’t just functional; they restore dignity, keep girls in school, and help women stay employed.
How It All Started
Founded during the early days of the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, the project began on a kitchen table. The incredible founder, Ella Lambert (then a student at the University of Bristol) wanted to act on her own lived experience of painful periods and the larger injustice of period poverty. She taught herself to sew from YouTube and rallied volunteers to help.
By mid-2023, the project had grown exponentially:
-
100,000 Pacha Pads distributed
-
Achieved official UK charity status
-
Committed to lifting over 13,000 people out of period poverty with up to five years of pad usage.
-
Andif that's not enough - Ella was recently named in The Sunday Times’ Young Power List for 2025!
Why It Matters
Periods shouldn’t stop someone from going to school or work, or strip away their dignity. Yet, period poverty affects an estimated 500 million people worldwide, including 26 million refugees and displaced individuals.
In places like Lebanon, for example, economic crisis and lack of access force women to use unsafe substitutes like cloth or newspaper, risking infections and amplifying stigma. The Pachamama Project responds by not just distributing pads, but pairing them with menstrual health education in partnership with local aid groups.
Why This Matters to Us at Cleancorp
The Pachamama Project is about real solutions; dignity-driven, grassroots, scalable. Their story is raw, human, and exactly the kind of change we want to champion. By partnering with them, through our clients’ support of Femme Organic subscriptions, we’re not just supplying products. We’re amplifying a global movement rooted in compassion and equity.
