R U OK? Day, held annually on the second Thursday of September, is a powerful reminder of the importance of checking in with one another. It’s about asking a simple question - “Are you OK?” - and being prepared to listen, support, and help where needed.

At Cleancorp, we understand the critical role mental health plays in creating a thriving workplace. This year, we’re going all out to ensure that our team feels supported, appreciated, and equipped to foster meaningful connections. Here’s a look at how we’ll be celebrating R U OK? Day and how these initiatives can inspire your workplace to make mental health a priority.

R U Ok

1. Gratitude Wall: Spreading Positivity and Encouragement

To foster a culture of appreciation, we’re introducing a Gratitude Wall in our office throughout September. This will be a dedicated space where employees can leave notes of appreciation, encouragement, or thanks for their colleagues.

Why It Works:

  • Encourages a culture of kindness and recognition.
  • Boosts morale and strengthens relationships.
  • Provides a tangible reminder that small gestures of gratitude can make a big difference.

We’ll also share some of these notes on our social media platforms to inspire others to spread positivity.

2. Mental Health Resources and Support

Our HR team will be sending out an email with vital information about mental health support services, including:

  • Lifeline (13 11 14).
  • Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636).
  • Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) available to Cleancorp employees.

Additionally, we’ll distribute R U OK? conversation guides and resources to empower our team to check in with one another beyond the day itself. These guides offer practical advice on how to start meaningful conversations, recognise when someone may need help, and connect them to appropriate support.

3. Mindfulness Session: A Moment to Pause and Reflect

We’re offering a short meditation or mindfulness session during R U OK? Day to help employees relax, recharge, and focus on their well-being.

What to Expect:

  • Guided breathing exercises.
  • Techniques to stay present and manage stress.
  • Tips on incorporating mindfulness into daily routines.

Why It Matters:
Mindfulness has been proven to reduce anxiety, improve focus, and promote a sense of calm—all essential for mental well-being.

4. Wear Yellow: A Simple but Impactful Gesture

We’re encouraging our team to wear yellow on R U OK? Day, the official colour of the movement.

Why Yellow?

Yellow symbolises hope and happiness, perfectly reflecting the mission of R U OK? Day. By wearing yellow, we’re showing solidarity and commitment to supporting one another’s mental health.

5. Wellness Packages: Self-Care, Delivered

As a token of appreciation, Cleancorp will be providing employees with wellness packages that include:

  • Stress balls.
  • Herbal teas.
  • Mindfulness colouring books.
  • Information on mental health resources.

Why It Works:

These small but thoughtful gifts remind employees to take time for themselves and prioritise their mental health.

Why R U OK? Day Matters at Cleancorp

At Cleancorp, we believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. R U OK? Day is about taking action and creating a workplace culture where people feel safe, supported, and heard.

Our Commitment:

  • We actively promote open conversations about mental health throughout the year, not just on R U OK? Day.
  • We provide access to resources and programs that support well-being.
  • We strive to foster a supportive and inclusive workplace culture where everyone feels they belong.

How You Can Get Involved

If you’re inspired to bring R U OK? Day initiatives to your workplace, here are some ideas:

  1. Set Up a Gratitude Wall: Encourage employees to leave notes of thanks or encouragement.
  2. Share Mental Health Resources: Distribute guides, helpline information, and tips for having meaningful conversations.
  3. Organise a Wellness Activity: Host a mindfulness session or similar activity to promote relaxation and focus.
  4. Wear Yellow: Create a sense of unity by encouraging everyone to wear the R U OK? Day colour.
  5. Provide Wellness Packages: Offer small self-care items as a gesture of support.

Let’s Make Every Day R U OK? Day

R U OK? Day is a powerful reminder to check in with those around us, but the conversations shouldn’t end there. At Cleancorp, we’re committed to building a workplace where mental health is a priority every day, not just once a year.

We encourage you to join us in embracing the message of R U OK? Day and making meaningful conversations a regular part of your work culture.
