Celebrating NAIDOC Week: How Cleancorp Is Taking Action and How You Can Too

Written by Lani Johnson | July 07, 2025

NAIDOC Week is an annual celebration held across Australia to recognise and honour the histories, cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Taking place from 6–13 July 2025, the week is an opportunity to deepen our understanding of Indigenous perspectives, support reconciliation efforts, and celebrate the richness of First Nations cultures.

At Cleancorp, we’re committed to playing an active role in NAIDOC Week by fostering cultural awareness, building partnerships, and taking meaningful action. This blog explores our plans and offers ideas for how your organisation can get involved.

What Is NAIDOC Week?

NAIDOC stands for National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee, and the week celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Each year, NAIDOC Week has a unique theme that reflects important aspects of First Nations history and culture. The theme for 2025 is “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy”.

How Cleancorp Is Celebrating NAIDOC Week

At Cleancorp, we believe NAIDOC Week is a time for action, learning, and connection. Here’s what we’re doing to honour this important week:

1. Cultural Awareness Training

We’re partnering with local Indigenous organisations to provide Cultural Awareness Training for our team. These sessions will focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and perspectives, helping our employees develop a deeper understanding of the communities we serve.

2. Sharing Book, Podcast, and Film Recommendations

Throughout NAIDOC Week, we’ll share weekly resources to encourage our team to explore Indigenous perspectives. Some of our recommendations include:

We’ll also invite employees to share their thoughts and reflections in team discussions.

3. Attending Local NAIDOC Activities

We’ll encourage employees to participate in local NAIDOC events such as community walks, forums, or cultural performances. These activities provide valuable opportunities to connect with First Nations communities and celebrate their achievements.

4. Volunteering Together

Cleancorp will partner with Indigenous community groups to volunteer on projects such as:

  • Cultural preservation initiatives.
  • Education programs.
  • Environmental clean-ups.

By working side-by-side with Indigenous communities, we hope to foster genuine relationships and contribute to meaningful outcomes.

5. Direct Donations

Cleancorp will make a corporate donation to an Indigenous organisation and share the impact with our team, highlighting how their work supports reconciliation and cultural preservation.
